As the temperatures soared to 102 this past Friday, it did not slow the girls track team down as they finished 5th out of 23 teams at the Southeast Valley Invitational. 17 PR’s were accomplished before the day was done, and the top performers were Alyssa Colbert who finished 2nd overall in the 100 meter dash, Jackie Trice 2nd in the 300 hurdles, Vienna Williams who finished 3rd in the 400 meter dash and Kate Renwick who finished 3rd in the 800 run. Tierra Brandt finished 4th in the 300 hurdles, Belle Huber 4th in pole vault and the girls 4×400 relay team finishing 4th overall. Three school record were broken this past Friday by the following young ladies, 9th grader Brookie Fuentes broke the girls 200 meter record with a time of 26.68. Jackie Trice re-broke her school record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.83, and Alana west also broke her own record in the Javelin with a throw of 85 feet. The Black Hawk girls track team is performing at an all time high this season, and they are strategically positioning themselves to score high at the State Track meet in two weeks.
