Girls and Boys Swim and Dive BOTH win against Higley High
Girls: WF 154, Higley 85 Boys: WF 126, Higley 112
The win against Higley High for both the Girls and Boys Swim and Dive teams on Thursday brings both teams to 5-0 records. This is an absolute first for the Girls team and the coaching staff could not be more proud of this team! Highlights for Girls: Freshman, Kate Thomas, had double wins in both of her individual events, again. Sophomores, Kassity Dunn and Megan Browne, Senior, Emily Thomas, and junior, Meghan Hansen each had a win. Huge swims by our girl relays too. Our relays took 1st and 2nd in both the 200 Medley and 200 Free relays – swimmers included: Emily Thomas, Kate Thomas, Megan Browne, Emery Milford, Kylie McLaughlin, Meghan Hayes, Alexandria Herring, Ella Bowman, Kate Koniecny, Kassity Dunn, Emma Robison, and Mariah Sanchez. Zoe Koneiczny had a terrific 2nd place finish in the 100 breastroke. Taylor Lubin did a great job in her tough 100 fly/500 free combo. Alexandria Herring swam her best 100 free race of the season.
The Boys’ meet was even closer, but WFHS was able to win by attacking each race. Highlights include: Double wins for Miller Browne and Kyle Gunderson. Gunnar Franz had a great win in 100 fly. Leif Lake had 2 best times and a HUGE 3rd place finish in the 100 breast. Freshman, Ty Raymond, had crucial finishes in both his 200 free and 100 back. Harmen Brekke had a 2nd and 3rd place finish in his events. Noah Breid swam to a 2nd and 3rd in his races as well. A big shout out to the relay team of Ty Raymond, Andrew Raymond, Trey Southwell and Nathaniel Bodem for a much needed 3rd place finish in the 400 free relay. Each one dropped time in order to touch out Higley by half a second!
