Multiple Teams · Girls Basketball REPEATS as Lady Black Hawk Invitational Champions

For the second year in a row, our girls basketball team has hosted and WON the Lady Black Hawk Invitational Tournament. The pool consisted of a mix of 4A-6A teams including Apache Junction, La Joya Community, Williams Field, McClintock, Mountain View, Corona del Sol, Mesa, and Queen Creek.  After a 59-24 victory over Corona to open the tournament, the Black Hawks faced challenges in the next two games. Trailing Mountain View by 12 at halftime on Tuesday night, the team did not give up and showed a ton of resilience and grit! It was a great team effort to mount the comeback, which ended on a series of good passes leading to a buzzer beating 3pt shot by sophomore, Morgan Rubin. The championship game was also super exciting and had many lead changes between Mesa & Williams Field. Williams Field was able to hold on to a 1pt lead down the stretch beating Mesa 54-53.

Shout out to juniors TaNia Brown and Cadence Davis for making the All-Tournament Team, and huge congratulations to sophomore Morgan Rubin for earning Tournament MVP.
