Black Hawks News · WFHS Junior Jovan Lombard Dominates in Martial Arts Championship

This past weekend, WFHS junior Armand “Jovan” Lombard competed in the American Martial Arts Championship held in Chandler, Az. At the competition, Jovan dominated the competition, placing 1st in each of the three divisions he was in: Open Hand Form, Kung Fu Short Weapon, and Sparring. Taking first in all divisions is an incredible feat, fitting his dedication to the martial arts. Jovan is a second degree black belt, as well as an instructor at Gilbert Defense Arts. Under the tutelage of Master Casey Paiz, he has been training in Shaolin Kenpo for over 9 years. When he is not in the dojo, Jovan is dedicating his time to his academics and extracurriculars here at WFHS as a member of the Honors Society and as part of our theater troupe. Congrats to Jovan for his great showing at the AMAC this past weekend!
